Course content
Content Lectures: 1. Base subject information, basic terms and definitions from mechanization area and automation area. 2. Energy transfer in kinematic system, drive requests. 3. Types of drives, comparison, characteristics. 4. Fluid drives, characteristics, comparing. Physical fundamentals and the resulting properties of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits. 5. Pneumatic drives, air properties as a medium for energy transfer. Comparison of the used media - the compressed air, ideal and real gas, viscosity, compressibility, transmission of power and energy. 6. Hydraulic drives, schematic diagram, characteristics, powerpacks. Basic properties of hydraulic fluid - compressibility, expansion, viscosity. 7. Proportional hydraulic system, servo-operated valves, circuits with PAS (- Power assisted steering) 8. Electric drives, general view, characteristics, powers (outputs). 9. Automated elements in clothing production- sewing and ironing process. 10. Automated elements in cutting of textile materials, cutting by water jet. 11. Overview of conceptions of ""work robots and manipulators"", kinematic configurations, kinematic couples, application in textile and clothing industry. 12. Effectors of ""work robots and manipulators"", vacuum grippers, control grippers, technological grippers, and special grippers for gripping of textile materials. Practical examples of different types of grippers. Physical principle of vacuum grippers - ejector. 13. Types of driving mechanism for sewing machines, automated sewing machines. 14. Automation in area of handling and manipulation with textile material in clothing process. Conveyer systems. The basic clasification of hanging conveyor systems. Practical examples of the use in clothing production. Practice 1. Practices projects assignment. The ABC of fluid mechanics. 2. Introductory to pneumatic system. Design of base pneumatic system through the use of learning system FESTO. Compression pumps. 3. Base components of a pneumatic system; valves, processing elements, power elements. Design of base pneumatic system through the use of learning system FESTO. 4. Design of base pneumatic system through the use of learning system FESTO. 5. Design of base pneumatic system through the use of learning system FESTO. 6. Presentation of seminar work. 7. Seminar test - design of base pneumatic system through the use of learning system FESTO. 8. Design of base hydraulic system through the use of learning system FESTO. 9. Design of base hydraulic system through the use of learning system FESTO. 10. Conveyer systems for clothing production. Examples of conveyers, video. 11. Electric drives. 12. Presentation of practices projects. 13. Excursion to the clothing factory to look at sewing automats and automated elements of sewing and ironing machines. 14. Seminar test.

Learning outcomes
Introduction into automation and robot application in the apparel industry. Types of machine driving units, their properties. Pneumatic and hydraulic circuits. Design of the pneumatic circuits, solution examples, and application in apparel machines. Automated sewing machines. Compressors and their principles. Principles of gas pressure measurement. Transport systems, conveyers in clothing production. Types of motor units used for sewing machines and other apparel equipment. Problems of the manipulation of fabric. Robot effectors used in the textile industry. Kinematics of robots. Application of industrial robots for apparel production and assembly operations.
Students will acquire knowledge from the area of this subject.

Combined examination, Practical demonstration of acquired skills, Oral presentation of self-study, Test

Credit: Active participation in seminars, elaboration and presentation of the seminar work. Passing tests. Exam: Written and oral. In the case of restrictions of direct teaching (online or hybrid teaching), students will be informed in time about the method of further teaching. Credit (restriction of direct teaching): Participation in online seminars, elaboration and online presentation of seminar work. Passing online tests.
