Course content
Lectures: 1. Introduction. Draping and clothing pattern construction. 2. Somatometry. 3. Technical drawing of clothing. 4. Body proportion. Clothing silhouette 5. Draping, design of clothing for wearing on lower part of human body. Definition of pattern construction parameters of skirts and trousers. 6. Draping, design of clothing for wearing on upper part of human body. Definition of pattern construction parameters of skirts and trousers. 7. Draping of sleeves and collars. Pattern styling. 8. Final (Master) pattern generation, lay planning. 9. Ergonomic, dynamic body measurements, dynamic effect. 10. Pattern construction of sportswear. 11. Definition of construction allowances. 12. Underwear block pattern. 13. Children clothing pattern block. 14. Size labelling. Sizing system. Theory of pattern grading. Practice: Exercise by its content follows the lecture - practicing material explained during the lecture.

Learning outcomes
The subject matter of the course is to get acquainted to students with method of pattern draping and with parametric pattern construction. The partial objectives are focused on study the way how to create 2D pattern using method of textile draping on a 3D body surface. Students will acquire skills in the field of creating pattern construction net of a individual clothing model shape.

Combined examination

Credit: Creative work in seminars, passing tasks from seminars, Elaborating a seminar paper. Exam: written + oral.
