Course content
Lectures: 1.Characteristic of clothing materials, according to the function of a clothing product. 2.Classification of clothing materials. 3.Clothing materials demands for users and garments producers. 4.ČSN, ISO standards for evaluation of clothing materials and garments. 5.Processing properties of clothing materials. 6.Processing and utility properties of sewing threads, evaluative methods. 7.End-use properties - clothing materials durability, evaluative methods. Extent of care for garments. 8.End-use properties - aesthetic properties of clothing materials, evaluative methods. 9.End-use properties - physiological properties of clothing materials, evaluative methods. 10.Clothing comfort, apparent temperatures. 11.Hand evaluation, subjective and objective methods of hand evaluation. 12.End-use properties - special properties of clothing materials for extreme conditions, evaluative methods. 13.Multifunction and semipermeable clothing materials. 14.Special protective clothing. Laboratory tutorials: Semestral work - Processing and utility properties of clothing materials: - Evaluative methods of clothing materials - laboratory works. - Presentation of semestral work.

Learning outcomes
Function and characteristics of clothing products; relation between to body load and the environment. Requirements for clothing and clothing materials from point of view the manufacturers and users. Processing properties of clothing materials, evaluation methods. Processing and utility properties of sewing threads. Utility properties - durability, aesthetic, physiological properties of clothing materials. Hand evaluation, subjective and objective methods of hand evaluation. Special properties of clothing materials for extreme conditions, evaluation methods. Relationship between quality of clothing materials and quality of clothing product.
Acquire knowledges from the area of clothing materials and their properties.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined examination, Oral exam, Written exam

On-line teaching. Credit: The assignments will be uploaded to E-learning and students must upload all the assignments before the deadline Exam: The examination will be ONLINE on E-learning, There will be 35 questions and examination time 40min. The student can use personal material, all students will have different questions.
