1. Introduction to computer graphics, principles of raster and vector graphics with an emphasis on practical situations and applications. 2-3. Overview of commonly used software, comparison of proprietary and open-source programs for computer graphics. 4-5. Basics of modeling, practical exercises with different types of modeling. Use of polygonal, curve-based, and implicit modeling on specific examples. 6-7. Basics of creating and using shaders and PBR materials, logic and practical demonstrations with texturing and UV mapping. 8-9. Principles of animation, basic animation methods. Animation of position, rotation, scale, and shape of objects. Animation of cameras, lights, environment, and materials. 10-11. Introduction to modifiers, non-destructive manipulation and animation of objects. 12-13. Rendering, optimization, and scene setup. 14. Presentation of semester work.

Learning outcomes

The course prepares students in the form of explanation of terms and practical use of relevant software products for creating 2D graphics. Attention is focused mainly on the user approach. Introduction to 2D computer graphics (principles of raster and vector graphics) Overview of used programs (proprietary versus open-source) Raster graphics (suitability of use - output for print, projection and web, assignment - graphic collage, poster) Vector graphics (suitability of use - output for print, projection and web, assignment - font composition) Experimental approach (mixing of both principles) Raster animation (traditional picture-by-picture animation, assignment - trailer, short clip) Vector animation (animation using keying, assignment - transformation) Credit test.
