Since the 1950s, art has emerged from galleries to disrupt the seclusion of the art world and became a part of everyday reality. This is done by experiments with one's own body, performative procedures, work with architecture and landscape. The aims of art often go beyond the criteria of the art world and aim for activism in the political, social or environmental sphere. There is a reflection of conditions of the artistic world functioning, which crystallizes into a strong stream of institutional criticism. The course focuses on social aspects and themes of art in public space. It enables to get acquainted with key works, actions and tendencies in which targeted work with a social context appears, which stands on the borderline between art, activism and the creation of cities. Through the semestral assignments, it will be possible to discuss the social context of the work and the role of participants involved, including "audience". The course includes lectures, meetings with guests, art walks in Liberec and Prague, and presentations of students' individual works.
