Course content
The course acquaints the students, in two parts (along with SU 2), with the main world's representatives of individual artistic genres of the last twenty years; the courses SU 2 and SU 3 are supplemented by the course SU 4, which provides general knowledge of the main trends in the Czech current art during the said period. The course is concluded with a workshop paper. 1. Figural painting (Peter Doig, Bernhard Martin, Laura Owens). 2. The word and art in the public space (Jenny Holzer, Elisabeth Brockmann, Martin Kippenberger). 3. Multiplication and art (the origin of the idea: Duchamp, Warhol, Beuys; contemporary examples: Felix Gonzalez-Torres, the General Idea group). 4. The sculptural art and monumental projects (Jochen Gerz, Anish Kapoor, Rachel Whiteread, Rudolf Herz, Damien Hirst). 5. The spaces of light (Olafur Eliasson, Robert Gober). 6. Digital art and the Internet (Dellbrügge & de Moll, Lynn Hershman, Mark Napier, Alexei Schulgin). 7. The visual art and other artistic activities (alternative trends in film, music and dance).

Learning outcomes
The course provides architecture studies with the interdisciplinary overlap mainly in the area of sociology, demographics, psychiatry, psychology and neurology. In cooperation with selected specialists of the given fields, this will enable the systematic inclusion of new knowledge that complements or changes existing theories and models of interpretation of space and environment in the study of architecture. The student should acquire the ability to synthetically use the information of specialized sciences by evaluating the relevance and possible applications, for example in specific urban planning. Outline of topics: 1. Sociology of the city 2. Social institutions if a city 3. Urban way of life 4. Urban environment and its features 5. Topological brain function in perception and imagination of space and environment, affects and empathy 6. Gestalt psychology and urban space
To grasp knowledge of common sources of contemporary art and architecture.
