Course content
The course acquaints the students, in two parts (along with SU 2), with the main world's representatives of individual artistic genres of the last twenty years; the courses SU 2 and SU 3 are supplemented by the course SU 4, which provides general knowledge of the main trends in the Czech current art during the said period. The course is concluded with a workshop paper. 1. Figural painting (Peter Doig, Bernhard Martin, Laura Owens). 2. The word and art in the public space (Jenny Holzer, Elisabeth Brockmann, Martin Kippenberger). 3. Multiplication and art (the origin of the idea: Duchamp, Warhol, Beuys; contemporary examples: Felix Gonzalez-Torres, the General Idea group). 4. The sculptural art and monumental projects (Jochen Gerz, Anish Kapoor, Rachel Whiteread, Rudolf Herz, Damien Hirst). 5. The spaces of light (Olafur Eliasson, Robert Gober). 6. Digital art and the Internet (Dellbrügge & de Moll, Lynn Hershman, Mark Napier, Alexei Schulgin). 7. The visual art and other artistic activities (alternative trends in film, music and dance).

Learning outcomes
Following the course Architecture in the context of social sciences and humanities 1, the course is focused on the introduction of areas and topics that applied sociology, psychology or neurology deal with, especially with regard to the application in architecture. It is important to look into the current human sciences which bring new knowledge about the structure and function of the brain. Scientific knowledge about the relationship between man and the environment, the ability to read and understand space. Outline of topics: 1. Design and identity 2. Theory of the extended mind and its relevance in architecture 3. Evolution, culture and architecture 4. Perception and experience of space 5. Sketch and creative work 6. Psychosocial aspects of housing
To grasp knowledge of common sources of contemporary art and architecture.
