Course content
1. We are all designers (D. A. Norman). 2. Fashion, taste and aesthetism: the history of the concept of interior in the 20th century. 3. The colours of interior (from Le Curbusier and Bauhaus until the present times). 4. Functionality and robustness as opposed to unnecessity (Sullivan's (???) slogan and its criticism). 5. Architects designing furniture (from J. Hoffmann to F. Gehry). 6. Architects designing the items of everydy use (dinner sets by world-renowned architects). 7. Mr. Hulot B. Mau: design as rhetoric

Learning outcomes
The development of industrial design during the 20th Century, brings gradual change of approach to the concept of applied arts, focuses attention on prominent figures working in this field; application of new materials and the influence of large exhibitions and fairs has transformed the world.
To grasp knowledge of prehistory of contemporary design.
