Course content
The difference between the southern and northern arts. The concept, development and symbolic interpretation of perspective. Interpretation and transformation of the understanding of the concept of disegno. The essence and background of mannerism. The role of vision and visuality in art. The relation of physicality and spirituality in art. Intrusion of the "low" into the visual art and its role. The regional modalities and stylistic variations and levels of "high" art.

Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing)

Learning outcomes
The course is a follow-up part to the overview course in the history of art and architecture and deals mainly with art of the 17th and 18th centuries, focusing on Baroque. The given time period is presented at the intersection of thinking of important personalities of various fields from science, philosophy to artistic expressions. Special attention is given to artists of the environment of Baroque Rome (Carravagio, Gianlorenzo Bernini, Francesco Borromini), but other exceptional artistic performances and revolutionary theories in Italy, Europe and especially in our territory ale followed as well (K. Škréta, Jan Amos Komenský, Bohuslav Balbín, P. Brandl , M. B. Braun and Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel). Topics: 1. Emblems and modern allegories on the way to baroque rhetoric 2. The Jesuits and early Baroque 3. Jan Amos Komenský and his Orbis Pictus 4. Bohuslav Balbín, baroque landscape of Bohemia, language, culture, history 5. Critique of Cartesianism and the connection between faith and science 6. Current infinity - Museum mathematicum 7. Cognition in favour of emotions, dynamics of gesture, light, colour, matter and space 8. Baroque architecture, painting and sculpture - Italy 9. Baroque architecture, painting and sculpture - European West 10. Baroque architecture, painting and sculpture - Central Europe and Bohemia 11. Giambatsta Vico, La Scienza Nuova (anticipation of new paths of culture and knowledge) 12. Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel - genius of baroque
To develop the ability of reflection and contextual thinking. To grasp knowledge of relations of visual art and architecture of that period of time.
