Course content
Considerations of the concepts of art and its transformation; the beginning of art and artistic representation; the issue of understanding progress and development in the art of Egypt and Mesopotamia; the relationship between tradition and originality; consideration of the objectivity of beauty; reflection concerning the affective nature of art; reflection on the nature and limits of imaging (e.g. in connection with religious considerations); examples of model (ideal) art works and buildings; the relationship between old and new, i.e. - inspiration, quotation, borrowing, interpretation and the interpretation of interpretations, etc.; the influence of theory (philosophy) on art and vice versa; the influence of ancient art on the new and vice versa (i.e. the impact of the new art on understanding and interpretation of ancient art).

Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing)

Learning outcomes
Emphasis is placed on explaining the principles and intellectual background, which enabled the specific practice of artistic creative activity as well as its specific period reflection. In addition to clarifying the nature of styles, forms and iconography of the period, the course also deals with the approach and interpretation of key concepts, thought patterns and categories that stood in the background of artistic creation and which determined the form, perceived meaning and understanding of works of art. The reflection and impact of forms of older art and art theory on modern art practice are also mentioned. Topics: 1. Thinking over the concept of art and its transformation 2. The relationship between tradition and originality 3. Reflections on the objectivity of beauty 4. Reflections on the affective nature of art 5. Considerations about types and limits of depiction (in connection with e.g. religious requirements) 6. The cult image - art in the time before the concept of art in modern sense 7. Examples of model (ideal) works of art and buildings I 8. Examples of model (ideal) works of art and buildings II 9. Examples of model (ideal) works of art and buildings III 10. The relationship between the old and the new, i.e. inspiration, quotations, borrowings, interpretations and interpretations of interpretations, etc. 11. The influence of theory (philosophy) on art and vice versa 12. The relation of old art to the new and their interpretive connection (i.e. the influence of the new art on understanding and interpretation of the old)
To develop the ability of reflection and contextual thinking. To grasp knowledge of relations of visual art and architecture of that period of time.
