Course content
The course introduces the main current trends in artistic creation and important representatives of individual artistic genres over the last twenty years. It provides an overview of the main current events on the art scene. The focus is on current exhibition projects, discussions, and concepts. 1-2. Figurative painting - a return to a traditional theme or a change in concept? 3-4. Art in public space - collaboration and cooperation or criticism and protest? 5-6. Art and idea - is all art conceptual? 7-8. Sculpture and monumental projects - can contemporary art be attractive, or is artistic popularity a resignation of contemporary art to the demands and logic of the cultural industry? 9-10. Spaces of light, immersive spaces. 11-12. Digital art, the internet and post-internet, AI in art - can artistic tools become actors in creation? 13-14. The visual arts and their relationship to other artistic activities (alternative trends in film, music, and dance).

Learning outcomes
The course has a fixed structure. In the given semester responds to the latest events on the domestic and world art scene. The course focuses on the manifestations of contemporary visual arts and artistic realizations in public space. In the form of concise lectures and guided tours, it focuses on the basic directions of the development of world visual art (post-conceptual, video, action, new gender art, public art, new painting, computer art, etc.). At the same time, the emphasis is placed on immediate contact with works of art and contemporary Czech art. The program will also include a criticism of art by its own means, with a special emphasis on the importance of Dadaism in the context of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
