Course content
Owerview of lectures and exercises: 1. Structure in architecture 2. Requirements for the load-bearing structures 3. Theory of designing of the load-bearing structures of the buildings 4. Materials for the load-bearing structures 6. Elements of the load-bearing structures 7. Static and kinetic friction, friction in the bottom of footings 8. Stress in the cross section - axial force, bending and shear 9. Eccentric pressure and kern of the cross section 10. Linearly and uniformly distributed pressure in the eccentrilally loaded cross section 11. Basics of plastic analysis of the cross-sections and structures 12. Torsion of the cross sections and members

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to extend the scope of teaching of basic compulsory courses Statistics of Building Structures 1 and 2 and to acquaint the students with the applications of theory in the preliminary design of load-bearing structures of buildings.
Deeper understanding of the functioning of load-bearing structures of buildings, the ability to choose the right type of load-bearing structure and the ability of qualified preliminary design of the main proportions and dimensions of the load-bearing structure of the building.
Prerequisites
Successful completion of the courses STA1 and STA2
