Course content
1. Introduction to the subject Construction of Buildings. 2. Construction Organisation Plan (POV) - organisation of a building site, the equipment of a building site, the means of lifting. 3. The basics of constructional-technological designing - technological methods (technological discipline), design relations and implementation. 5. Earthworks - the substructure. 6. Foundations + waterproofing. 7. The structural systems of a carcass (implementatoin, relations to means of lifting). 8. Roofs. 9. Facades + thermal insulation. 10. Interior processes (partition walls, naked floors, plasters ?). 11. Finalising structures (facework, paint, floors, suspended ceilings ?). 12. The technology of the plumbing systems. 13. Utility networks and connections to them. 14. Social aspects of the preparation of constructions; investor's activities; preparations of the contractor; awarding contracts. Exercises: TOPICS AND OBJECTIVES OF EXERCISES: For a student's specific project, the student is required to prepare a general report and a technical report, the Construction Organisation Layout Plan, a simplified spatio-temporal chart of the construction; a technological regulation for a selected activity. General Report - the basic constructional-technical description of the building (the main structures) Technical Report - description of the building site - ownership and legal relations, connection to utility networks, relations to the surrounding structures, etc. - division of the building into individual structures - the necessary capacity and the utilisation of the existing or newly built facilities of the building site's equipment - the facilities of the building site's equipment included in the basic financial costs of the construction and claims to fees (for example, a crane track, a crane, protection or relaying of the existing utility networks, traffic signs, payment of use of a public area, lease of land, a fee for dumping soil or debris on a dump site, etc.) - means of lifting - cranes + elevators (design, locations, connection to traffic outside the building site and to traffic on the building side, transport of a crane to the building site) - ensuring utilities for the building site - balance of earthworks - traffic routes - description of the scope of constructional readiness for technological equipment - information on special measures or on the method of implementation with regard to safety and protection of health Construction Organisation Layout Plan - the perimeter of the building site, temporary and permanent occupation of other areas, the final and provisional connections to utility networks, traffic routes on the building site, entrances to the building site, traffic routes, dump sites and storage facilities of the building site, a crane track, the positions of construction elevators

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing)
  • Preparation for exam - 45 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 42 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Basic orientation in the issue of construction. Recapitulation of basic technologies of construction works. Technical and organizational issues of construction preparation from the perspective of the construction contractor and investor. Overview of topics: 1. Risk allocation of implementation parts of project documentation. Risk allocation in the construction system 2. Risk assessment in relation to quality assurance 3. Practical risk analysis of processes. Allocation of risks in building maintenance 4. Groundworks 5. Soil compaction. Production, transport and handling of building materials 6. Lifting means. Road construction and maintenance 7. Machines for building foundations. Underground and tunnel work 8. Equipment for recycling building materials 9. New technologies from groundworks to finishing works 10. Special technologies from groundworks to finishing works 11. Classification of technological procedures in the implementation of constructions, limits in their use 12. Analysis of defects from the perspective of project documentation. Analysis and diagnosis of failures of building constructions, assessment of defects and unfinished work. Application of acquired knowledge, solution of preparation and construction of buildings
The student will be independently capable to orientate oneself in building technology questions. The accent is given for realization planning and for typical technologies for different subsystems of buildings.
