Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic terminology of buildings and structures, technical design of construction and load-bearing structural systems of buildings. Students will gain an understanding of the basic functional requirements and material design of load bearing elements and load bearing systems including application in architecture. They will also learn about engineering geological investigation and the principles of design of ground structures, foundation structures and vertical load-bearing structures. The aim is to be able to express and illustrate verbally and graphically the building elements of the above structures. Emphasis is placed on the feasibility and sustainability of contemporary structures. The lecture series is arranged chronologically according to the process of design and construction of civil engineering structures. It is also interspersed with exercises and on-site excursions. Students can consolidate the material in the online tests on the subject, which are available in the E-learning for this course.
The student will understand the basic segments of building activities. He will able to use fundamental professional terminology and methods of engineering drawing.
