Course content
a) Philosophy: definition of philosophy - wisdom about the world, a form of life, a special discipline. A natural outlook of life and a theoretical outlook: ontological, transcendental and empirical one. A list of topics: ontological difference, existence, the world, physicality, language. The list of approaches: phenomenology, existentialism, hermeneutics, structuralism, post-structuralism and post-modernism, analytical philosophy, philosophy and the theory of science. b) Aesthetics: the subject and methods of aesthetics, an aesthetic item and an aesthetic experience, aesthetic categories, aesthetic judgment. c) The history of art: exact science x explanation; the problem of history, autonomy and heteronomy of history

Learning outcomes
a) Philosophy: definition of philosophy, wisdom about the world, a form of life, professional study. Natural attitude and theoretical attitude: ontological, transcendental and empirical. Overview of topics: ontological difference, existence, world, corporeality, language. Overview of approaches: phenomenology, existentialism, hermeneutics, structuralism, poststructuralism and postmodernism, analytical philosophy, philosophy and theory of science. b) Aesthetics: subject and methods of aesthetics, aesthetic object and aesthetic experience, aesthetic categories, aesthetic judgment. c) Art history: exact science x interpretation, problem of historicity, autonomy, and heteronomy of art
To be aware of relations between art history and visual culture.
