Course content
Lectures: 1. Specifics of nursing care for a patient in a state of shock a. The Content of lecture: Shock states in acute medicine (division stages, etiology, diagnosis, therapy). b. The Content of training: The specifics of nursing care of the patient in a state of shock 2. Specifics of nursing care for a patient with chest pain, the differential diagnostic balance sheet a. The Content of lecture: Chest pain in acute medicine (classification, etiology, diagnosis, therapy). b. The Content of training: Specifics of nursing care a patient with chest pain. 3. Specifics of nursing care for patients with arrhythmias a. The Content of lecture: rhythm disorders in acute medicine (classification, etiology, diagnosis, therapy). b. The Content of training: Specifics of nursing care of patients with rhythm disturbances, including practical demonstration of pathological ECG waveforms using by Simman. 4. Specifics of nursing care for patients with respiratory insufficiency a. The Content of lecture: Respiratory failure in acute medicine with a focus on dyspnoea, aspiration, asthma, COPD, and pulmonary edema. (etiology, causes, diagnosis, therapy). b. The Content of training: Specifics of nursing care of patients with respiratory insufficiency, including training in oxygen therapy, nebulization, inhalation and others. 5. Specifics of nursing care for a patient with intoxication a. The Content of lecture: Intoxication in acute medicine (types and etiology, diagnosis, therapy). b. The Content of training: Specifics of nursing care in patient with intoxication. 6. Specifics of nursing care for patients with multiple injuries and burns a. The Content of lecture: Polytrauma, burns in acute medicine (division, scoring systems, etiology, diagnosis, therapy). b. The Content of training : Specifics of nursing care a patient with polytrauma and burns, including practical training primary ensuring (primary treatment, fixation, transport). 7. Specifics of nursing care for patients with psychosocial urgency a. The Content of lecture: psychosis, depression, suicide abuse and addiction, homelessness, domestic violence and abused person b. The Content of training: Specifics of nursing care of patients with psychosocial urgency.

  • Class attendance - 48 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The subject deals with clinical states which can directly threaten life of a man. It introduces the bases of the first aid in the field, treatment, specific life saving procedures and adequate nursing care for patients at departments of emergency, resuscitation and intensive care.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.
