Course content
Lectures: 1) Cytogenetics, heredity and variability at the cell level: organization of genetic information at the cell level, karyology, karyotype analysis 2) Molecular genetics: heredity and variability at the molecule level, nucleic acids, their structure and importance, genetic code, processes of realization of genetic information at the molecule level; molecular genetic methods of genome analysis 3) Classical genetics with elaboration of basic methods of hybridological analysis: genetic laws, methods and objects, hybridological analysis, pedigree analysis 4) Clinical genetics: genetic pathological conditions and their classification; mutagenesis, carcinogenesis and teratogenesis, genome changes and the environment; prevention of genetic pathological conditions 5) Ethical, legal and psychosocial aspects of genetics 6) Excursion to the laboratory of molecular genetics

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as theoretical. Students will learn the basic principles of genetics, inheritance at the level of molecules, cells and organisms with an emphasis on human genetics. They will gain an overview of the most common genetic diseases, the possibilities of genetic counseling and genetic diagnostics (prenatal and postnatal).
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.
