Course content
|
Lectures: 1) Introduction: definition of the field, methods of work, organization and structure, legislation; information systems of the branch, evaluation of health risks and impact on health 2) Environmental hygiene and its impact on human health: adverse health effects of physical, chemical, biological factors in the municipal environment, their evaluation, management and prevention of health risks and monitoring 3) Occupational hygiene and the impact of the working environment on human health: adverse health effects of physical, chemical, biological and physiological factors in the working environment, their evaluation, management and prevention of risks, health risks of selected professions and occupational diseases 4) Hygiene of nutrition and the influence of nutrition on human health: importance and need of individual nutrients, nutritional recommendations, health risks from food and foodborne diseases, disease prevention and nutrition in prevention 5) Highly dangerous infections 6) General epidemiology I: basic epidemiological terms; the disease spreading process, immunization principles and vaccination calendar 7) General epidemiology II: precautions before and during the outbreak, principles of disinfection and sterilization 8) Special epidemiology I: respiratory, intestinal infections 9) Special epidemiology II: blood, skin infections, venereal infections, early infections, anthropozoonoses, neuroinfections 10) Special epidemiology III: healthcare-associated infections (characteristics, classification, agents, process of origin) and spread, prevention), principles of surveillance, antibiotic resistance 11) Special epidemiology IV: viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, parasitic infections and transmissible infections on man

Learning outcomes
|
The course focuses on prevention and health promotion. It introduces hygiene and epidemiological methods, the importance of anti-epidemic measures, general and special epidemiology of infectious and non-infectious diseases. It makes it possible to understand the organization and tasks of the hygiene service and the protection of public health.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Written exam
