Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction: definition of the field, methods of work, organization and structure, legislation; information systems of the branch, evaluation of health risks and impact on health 2) Environmental hygiene and its impact on human health: adverse health effects of physical, chemical, biological factors in the municipal environment, their evaluation, management and prevention of health risks and monitoring 3) Occupational hygiene and the impact of the working environment on human health: adverse health effects of physical, chemical, biological and physiological factors in the working environment, their evaluation, management and prevention of risks, health risks of selected professions and occupational diseases 4) Hygiene of nutrition and the influence of nutrition on human health: importance and need of individual nutrients, nutritional recommendations, health risks from food and foodborne diseases, disease prevention and nutrition in prevention 5) General epidemiology: basic epidemiological terms; the process of spreading the disease; precautions before and at the time of infection, immunization principles and vaccination schedule; principles of disinfection and sterilization 6) Special epidemiology I: respiratory, intestinal infections; infections of blood, skin infections, venereal infections, early infections, anthropozoonoses 7) Special epidemiology II: healthcare-associated infections (characteristics, distribution, agents, process of origin and spread, prevention)

Learning outcomes
The course focuses on prevention and health promotion. It introduces epidemiological methods, the importance of anti-epidemic measures. It makes it possible to understand the organization and tasks of the hygiene service.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis, Didactic test

Credit: - self-study, - 80% attendance at lectures. Exam: - a written test.
