Lectures: 1) Introduction to clinical hematology, basic knowledge of hematopoiesis 2) Specific examinations in haematological diseases 3) Introduction to transfusiology, transfusion products, indication of haemotherapy 4) Transfusion side effects 5) Transfusion application Exercises: 1) Overview of laboratory methodologies, good laboratory practice 2) Morphological hematological examinations and their interpretation 3) Tests for examination of haemostasis and their interpretation 4) Immunohematological methods 5) Pre-transfusion examination 6) Transfusion products

Learning outcomes
|
The course is designed as a theoretical-practical unit. It acquaints with basic knowledge of clinical hematology. It provides information about basic and special examination methods in hematology, acquaints with the method of blood collection for hematological examinations. It explains the basic principles of transfusion medicine, acquaints with laboratory methods used in transfusion medicine, with the production of transfusion products and indications for their application, with post-transfusion complications.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
