Course content
Lectures: Lectures with practical demonstration on SimMan simulator 1) Basics of intensive care, organization of intensive care, ethical problems 2) Principles of providing intensive nursing care 3) Evaluation of patients in acute and critical conditions by nurse, monitoring of the patient in the framework of intensive care 4) Ensuring blood circulation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adults and children 5) Acute emergency procedures in acute care departments 6) Specifics of pharmacology in acute critical conditions Exercises: SimMan simulator training 1) Practical training to assess the patient's condition in acute and critical conditions (cardiovascular monitoring, breathing, consciousness) 2) Practical training of basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation 3) Implementation or assistance in the introduction of blood circulation inputs, including nursing care for established approaches into the bloodstream 4) Practical introduction or assistance in the introduction of upper and lower respiratory aids, including nursing care for established tubes and cannulas 5) Practical training of nursing care at UPV 6) Practical training of nursing procedures in urgent procedures in the intensive care department

Learning outcomes
The subject Intensive Nursing Care 1-2 is conceived as theoretical and practical. It is based on subjects of clinical nursing. The course acquaints students with the basics of intensive care, with the peculiarities of the nursing process in acute conditions. In this course, students will be acquainted with the organization of intensive care, ethical problems, principles of intensive care in the ICU and ARO especially in connection with nursing care for patients with basic vital functions (breathing, blood circulation, consciousness, internal environment, polytraumatism).
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Practical exam

Classified credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - oral and practical examination.
