Course content
Lectures: Lectures with practical demonstration on SimMan simulator 1) Intensive care of a patient with respiratory failure 2) Intensive care of a patient with blood circulation failure 3) Intensive care of the patient within consciousness disorders 4) Intensive care of patients with internal environment disorders 5) Intensive care of a patient with polytrauma 6) Intensive care of the patient with other critical conditions Exercises: SimMan simulator training 1) Specifics of nursing process in a patient with respiratory disorder 2) Specifics of the nursing process in a patient with impaired blood circulation 3) Specifics of nursing process in a patient with consciousness disorder 4) Specifics of the nursing process in a patient with aggression and UPV, including communication 5) Specifics of nursing process in a patient with polytrauma 6) Specifics of the nursing process in a patient with selected critical conditions

Learning outcomes
The subject Intensive Nursing Care 1-2 is conceived as theoretical and practical. It is based on clinical nursing subjects. The course acquaints students with the basics of intensive care, with the peculiarities of the nursing process in acute conditions. In this course, students will be acquainted with the organization of intensive care, ethical problems, principles of intensive care in the ICU and ARO, especially in connection with nursing care of patients with basic vital functions (breathing, blood circulation, consciousness, internal environment, polytraumatism).
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Practical exam

Classified credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - oral and practical examination.
