Learning outcomes
|
The course provides basic knowledge of English technical terminology. The aim is to practice the ability to read and understand English written text, sort information and work with it, obtain learning strategies for self-study and further use of language in everyday situations and in professional practice. The course is focused on balancing students' heterogeneous entry skills and the creation of further preconditions for the further development of general and professional communication. It focuses mainly on training and development language means (with emphasis on grammar and vocabulary) and speech skills (with emphasis on speaking and reading with understanding). Consolidation and deepening of grammatical and lexical means will take place, among other things, in the form of substitution, transformation or translation exercises from a selected English textbook, with support e-learning environment. For the development of professional communication in general, work with professional texts and authentic audio-visual activities. Students will learn basic English medical terminology in the given topics. Students will understand professional English medical or non-medical texts. The aim of the course is to equip students with competencies in the field professional language at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam
Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - presentations on a selected topic, - individual work and home preparation in the e-learning course, - written credit test (min. 60% correct answers).
