Course content
Lectures: 1) Basic concepts (symptoms, syndrome, etiology, pathogenesis, course of diseases, complications, prophylaxis, prevention, prevalence, incidence, monitoring of vital functions) 2) History - in general, parts; physical examination (5 P); general examination (consciousness, habitus, position, voice, skin and adnexa, temperature, swelling); head and neck examination 3) Vascular examination, heart examination (medical history, physical examination, methods) 4) ECG - principles, basic diagnostics, monitoring possibilities 5) Subjective and objective symptoms of heart and blood vessel diseases; examination of lungs, ventilation disorders, thoracic puncture; subjective and objective signs of respiratory diseases, chest examination 6) Subjective and objective symptoms of digestive tract diseases, main examination methods, abdominal and digestive tract examinations, abdominal events (medical history, physical examination) 7) Examination of liver, gall bladder, pancreas; examination of kidneys and urinary tract (medical history, physical examination, methods) 8) Examination of the musculoskeletal system 9) Symptoms of endocrine system diseases, examination methods; diabetes mellitus and complications, examination methods; disorders of the internal environment, acid-base balance; examination methods in haematopoietic disorders, blood transfusion Exercises: 1) General examination of the patient 2) History collection in model situations 3) Practical examination of blood vessels and heart 4) Practical training and analysis of ECG 1 5) Practical training and analysis of ECG 2 6) Practical training of chest examination 7) Practical training of abdomen examination 8) Practical examination of liver, gall bladder, pancreas, kidneys and urinary tract 9) Practical training of examination of the command apparatus and other examinations

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as theoretical and practical. It includes comprehensive information on the symptoms and symptomatology of systemic diseases and modern diagnostic and examination methods in clinical medicine. It acquaints students with the technique of physical examination and evaluation of the general health condition of a person. It enables them to acquire competences to recognize symptoms signaling deviations from normal development.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Credit: - self-study, - 80% attendance in lectures, - 75% success rate in the written test. Exam: - oral exam.
