Course content
Lectures: 1) Basic concepts (symptoms, syndrome, etiology, pathogenesis, course of diseases, complications, prophylaxis, prevention, prevalence, incidence, monitoring of vital functions) 2) History - in general, parts; physical examination (5 P); general examination (consciousness, habitus, position, voice, skin and adnexa, temperature, swelling); head and neck examination 3) Vascular examination, heart examination (medical history, physical examination, methods) 4) ECG - principles, basic diagnostics, monitoring possibilities 5) Subjective and objective symptoms of heart and blood vessel diseases; examination of lungs, ventilation disorders, thoracic puncture; subjective and objective symptoms of respiratory diseases, chest examination 6) Subjective and objective symptoms of gastrointestinal diseases, main examination methods 7) Examination of abdomen and digestive tract, sudden abdominal events (medical history, physical examination) 8) Examination of the musculoskeletal system 9) Examination of liver, gallbladder, pancreas; examination of kidneys and urinary tract (medical history, physical examination, methods) 10) Symptoms of endocrine system diseases, examination methods; diabetes mellitus and complications, examination methods; disorders of the internal environment, acid-base balance; examination methods in haematopoietic disorders, blood transfusion Exercises: 1) General examination of the patient 2) Examination of the cardiovascular system 3) Chest examination 4) Examination of the abdomen 5) Further examination of the patient (musculoskeletal system, etc.)

Learning outcomes
The subject includes comprehensive information about symptomatology of systemic diseases, diagnostic examination methods in individual fields of medicine, basic techniques and procedures of physical examination needed for providing specific nursing care.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Credit: - self-study, - 80% attendance in lectures, - 75% success in the written test, Exam: - oral exam.
