Course content
|
Lectures: 1) Community care - definition, aim, structure within public health, status and role of nurse in community care based on WHO recommendations 2) Healthy community - factors affecting the health state of the community, research in community care 3) Nursing process in community care 4) Community care for family - woman, child, man, school children, community care at work 5) Community care for mentally ill and disadvantaged, community care for old and dying clients Exercises: 1) Characteristics of comprehensive home care (definition and goal, home care providers, founders and providers, funding, forms and scope of provision), history of home care provision in the Czech Republic, current situation of home care agencies, KDP versus visitor service, basic principles of complex home care 2) Visiting the patient in home care (planning, preparation, equipment); sisters homework 3) Release of the client from home care, home visit record, home care agency documentation 4) Anamnestics and diagnostics in home care, home health care plans in relation to the most common to clients with cancer, home hospice care 5) Home health care plans in relation to the most common diagnostic groups of clients (leg ulcers, DM, respiratory diseases, MS, stroke, mental illness)

Learning outcomes
|
The course is designed as a theoretical-practical unit. The course introduces students to the problems of primary care and focuses on the area of community nursing. It acquaints students with the assessment of patients / clients in the community, the application of the nursing process in the home and community environment and the organization of services for clients in the context of community care.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

|
Essay
Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - elaboration of a seminar paper on a given topic.
