Course content
Lectures: 1) Importance of communication in health care, communication theory, transaction analysis 2) Factors influencing the course of communication 3) The importance of nonverbal communication 4) Effective communication, conflict management and negotiation 5) Assertiveness, coping with difficult communication situations Exercises: 1) Model tasks: Communication in health care 2) Model tasks: Use of nonverbal communication 3) Model tasks: Effective communication 4) Model tasks: assertive interview 5) Model tasks: Conducting communication in difficult communication situations

Learning outcomes
The course is classified as a compulsory subject of the scientific background. It is conceived as a theoretical-practical unit that creates the basics of the professional knowledge and skills of a non-medical healthcare professional. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with adequate communicative skills. Students will acquire adequate communicative skills skills not only with the sick, their family members, but also with their co-workers.

Assessment methods and criteria
Didactic test

Credit: - 80% attendance at exercises - completion of model tasks in exercises, - mastering the model situation - problematic communication with the patient.
