Course content
Introduction to the class - demarcation of the clinical psychology among the others psychological sciences, content of the clinical psychology and its cooperation with other medical disciplines. Personality - its structure and formation. Properties of a personality. Problems of normality of a personality. Personality changes caused by disease. Illness as hard life situation - the definition of sickness and or health. The image of psyche affected by disease and other influences of disease - at the area of emotional, motivational, gnostic and options of disease´s influence. Auto-plastic image of the disease and its conditionality . The idea of psychosomatic medicine- psychsomatic symptoms and somato - psychic symptoms. Sick person in the medical environment - personality, behaviors, adaptation in environment, adaptations to illness - its acceptation or rejection and other influences. Iatropatogenie, sorrorigenie, pacebo effect. Defense mechanisms - description, influence and significance during the illness and their place in area of clinical medicine - empirical validation. How to deal with defense mechanisms and how to manage them in process of treatment or taking care about patient - client. Psychological problems in childern, specific circumstances of certain evolutional periods of child development and their response to disease or illness. Psychological problems in adolescents and adult age -certain specific in reaction to evolution stages in human life and their response to disease or illness. Psychological problems of old age /gerontology/ some specifics of this period of human life. Processing in the stage of human life - the issues of death and dying, basics of thanatology.
