Course content
Exercises: 1) Pronunciation rules, syllable length, accent; basic grammar terminology 2) 1st declination nouns 3) Adjectives of 1st and 2nd declension 4) Nouns and adjectives of the 3rd declension 5) Nouns of the 4th and 5th declension 6) Outline of the verbal system, participles, imperatives, presentative conjunctives 7) Comparison of adjectives, numerals 8) Adverbia 9) Latin prefixes and suffixes; Greek prefixes and suffixes 10) Compound words

Learning outcomes
The course introduces the basics of Latin and Greek terminology and medical terminology, which is a basic requirement for the study of other specialized subjects. The aim of the course is to orientate in medical text and speech. Students will acquire knowledge of Latin and Greek medical terminology and will be able to understand Latin medical texts in medical documentation.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - self-study: the textbook for work in exercises will be the textbooks (PLAŠILOVÁ, Jiřina and Dagmar KOZLÍKOVÁ. Basics of Latin Medical Terminology. 4th edition Prague: Karolinum, 2012. ISBN 978-80-246-2151-7.) these scripts will be supplemented by other materials, which will be distributed during the semester, - written test: mastering vocabulary and grammar from the given scripts and from given materials will be a prerequisite for passing the exam. Exam: - oral exam.
