Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction to abdominal surgery; diseases of the esophagus and stomach 2) Diseases of the small and large intestine (inflammation, tumor); mammy disease (inflammation, tumor) 3) Introduction to traumatology; upper and lower limb injuries 4) Traumatology of the thorax (pneumothorax, pericardial puncture, drainage, fractures of the ribs) 5) Lung and mediastinal diseases (inflammation, tumor, resection) 6) Craniocerebral injuries (hematomas, bleeding, contusio, commotio and cempresio cerebri) 7) Cardiac surgery, surgical procedures on valves, vessels; reconstructive procedures on coronary arteries Exercises: 1) Nursing process in a patient with diseases of the esophagus and stomach 2) Nursing process in a patient with colon cancer 3) Nursing process in a patient with breast cancer 4) Nursing process in a patient with a femur fracture 5) Nursing process and urgent care for patients with pneumothorax 6) Nursing process in a patient with craniocerebral hemorrhage and craniocerebral injury 7) Nursing process in a patient after cardiac surgery

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to get acquainted with the problems of the field of surgery, clinical conditions and diseases in surgical fields, the implementation of the nursing process in individual surgical diseases. The course is designed as a theoretical and practical unit.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Didactic test

Classified credit: - 80% attendance at seminars, - passing the test.
