Course content
Lectures: 1) Diseases of the spine (inflammation, tumor, herniation, injury) 2) Brain tumors 3) Diseases of the veins (varices, phlebothrombosis, thrombophlebitis), diseases of the arteries (ICHDK, aneurysm, reconstructive procedures on the arteries), amputations and burns 4) Thyroid disease (inflammation, tumor, autoimmunity, dysfunction); laryngeal disease (laryngectomy) 5) General characteristics of transplants (legislation, organ procurement), heart and lung transplantation 6) Transplantation of abdominal and other organs (kidneys, liver, pancreas, intestine, uterus) 7) Urolithiasis, prostate diseases (inflammation, tumor), other diseases in urology (hydrocele, testicular torsion, phimosis, condylomata) Exercises: 1) Nursing process in a patient with a disease of the spine 2) Nursing process in a patient with diseases of the veins and arteries 3) Nursing process in a patient with burn trauma 4) Nursing process in a patient after total laryngectomy and after strumectomy 5) Nursing process in a patient with urolithiasis 6) Nursing process in a patient with urological disease 7) Nursing process in a patient after a kidney transplant

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to get acquainted with the problems of the field of surgery, clinical conditions and diseases in surgical fields, the implementation of the nursing process in individual surgical diseases. The course is designed as a theoretical and practical unit.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Didactic test

Classified credit: - 80% attendance at seminars, - passing the test, - oral examination (medical and nursing part).
