Course content
Lectures: 1) Basics of general neurology; specialization of the field; basics of clinical examination, clinical images in neurological diseases; auxiliary examination methods in neurology (CT, MR, EEG, EMG, sonography and others); modern trends in diagnostics and therapy of cerebrovascular diseases 2) Stroke; expansive CNS processes; epilepsy 3) Craniocerebral injuries, infectious diseases of the brain and brain envelopes 4) Vertebrogenic disease; skeletal muscle system diseases 5) Demyelinating and degenerative CNS diseases; extrapyramidal system and its disorders Exercises: 1) Nursing process in a patient with stroke 2) Nursing process in patients with intracranial hypertension (including the specifics of nursing care for ICP sensor) 3) Nursing process in a patient with epileptic seizure 4) Nursing process in a patient with dorsalgia 5) Nursing process in a patient with demyelinating and degenerative diseases

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as theoretical-practical. It is part of a complex of subjects from clinical nursing. It characterizes clinical conditions in patients with diseases of the nervous system in terms of nursing care and needs of patients changed in connection with these diseases. It provides an overview of the specifics of nursing care in patients in neurology, which is aimed at effectively solving nursing problems of patients.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Oral exam, Test

Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - credit test. Exam: - oral exam.
