Course content
Lecture: 1) Introduction to nuclear medicine 2) History and principles of radionuclide examinations 3) Importance of diagnostic and therapeutic methods in nuclear medicine 4) Radiopharmaceuticals - sources of radionuclides, the most commonly used radiopharmaceuticals and their properties; quality control, application of radiopharmaceuticals, biological behavior of radiopharmaceuticals 5) SPECT - difference between transmission and emission tomography, reconstruction algorithms, attenuation correction, quality control, artifacts in images, examples of use 6) PET - principle of coincidence, detectors for PET, PET camera parameters, image reconstruction, positron radionuclides, application examples Exercises: 1) Physics in nuclear medicine 2) Principles of radionuclide examinations 3) Diagnostic and therapeutic methods in nuclear medicine 4) Radiopharmaceuticals 5) SPECT 6) PET

The course focuses on the introduction to nuclear medicine, radiopharmaceuticals used in nuclear medicine, SPECT, PET and their principles, properties, applications.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Test

Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - self-study, - written test.
