Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction to abdominal surgery; esophagus and stomach diseases 2) Diseases of the small and large intestine (inflammation, tumor); mammary disease (inflammation, tumor) 3) Introduction to traumatology; injuries of upper and lower limbs 4) Traumatology of the rib cage (pneumothorax, pericardial puncture, drainage, rib fractures) 5) Lung disease and mediastinum (inflammation, tumor, resection procedures) 6) Craniocerebral injuries (hematomas, bleeding, contusio, commotio and cempresio cerebri) 7) Cardiosurgery, surgery on the valves, blood vessels; reconstruction procedures on coronary arteries Exercises: 1) Nursing process in patients with diseases of the esophagus and stomach 2) Nursing process in a patient with colon cancer 3) Nursing process in a patient with mammary cancer 4) Nursing process in a patient with fracture of the femur 5) Nursing process and emergency care in a patient with pneumothorax 6) Nursing process in a patient with craniocerebral bleeding and craniocerebral injury 7) Nursing process in a patient after cardiac surgery

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the problems of the field of surgery, clinical conditions and diseases in surgical fields, realization of the nursing process in individual surgical diseases. The course is conceived as a theoretical-practical unit.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Didactic test

Classified credit: - 80% attendance at exercises, - passing the test.
