Course content
Lectures: 1) Development of orthopedics, diagnostics and principles of conservative treatment of orthopedic diseases, orthopedic surgery 2) Congenital malformations in orthopedics 3) Arthrosis, alloplasty in arthrosis of joints 4) Infectious diseases in orthopedics 5) Bone injury 6) Preparation of surgery, sterilization, hygienic regime in the operating room, complications of surgical treatment of fractures 7) Differential diagnosis of back pain, bone tumors Exercises: 1) Importance of paramedic and specifics of nursing care in orthopedics 2) Nursing care in a patient with osteoarthritis after total endoprosthesis 3) Nursing care in patients after amputation 4) Nursing care in a patient with selected orthopedic diagnoses

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject acquaints with clinical conditions, diseases that affect the musculoskeletal system. It is focused on obtaining basic information about diseases in orthopedics, diagnostic methods, conservative and operative treatment, rehabilitation. The aim of the course is to manage the implementation of nursing anamnesis, diagnostics, and the choice of nursing interventions in a patient with orthopedic disease.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - a written test. Exam: - oral exam.
