Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction to nursing care in psychiatry; the status of psychiatry; psychiatric terminology; therapeutic procedures and possibilities in psychiatry; mental health trends and issues; specific problems of work with psychiatric patients; resocialization, psychiatric assessment of the scale; special approaches to nursing care according to the social structure of the population 2) Schizophrenia, delusional disorders 3) Affective disorders 4) Neurotic disorders 5) Personality disorders 6) Addiction to psychoactive substances, aggressive behavior of patients 7) Organic mental disorders Exercises: 1) Nursing process in a patient with schizophrenia and delusional disorders 2) Nursing process in a patient with affective and neurotic disorder 3) Nursing process in a patient with personality disorders 4) Nursing care for patients with dependence on psychoactive substances, with organic mental disorders and in patients with aggressive behavior

Learning outcomes
The content of the course includes information on the position of psychiatry, psychiatric terminology, therapeutic procedures and treatment options in psychiatry. Teaching is focused on specific problems of work with psychiatric patients, special approaches to nursing care according to the social structure of the population. Based on knowledge from psychiatry, it enables the application of highly qualified care for patients with psychiatric problems.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined examination, Oral exam, Student's performance analysis

Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - self-study. Exam: - oral exam.
