Course content
Lectures: General psychology: 1) Subject of psychology, interdisciplinary position, organization of psychological sciences; biological determinations of the psyche; social and cultural determination of psyche; basic psychic processes - gnostic, motivational and volitional processes; emotions, emotions, affects; personality; man as a biopsychosocial being; man as a personality; knowing your own personality; basic patterns of psychological development; conditions of psychological development; individual deviations in development 2) Levels of psychological development of individual periods; newborn, infant, toddler, pre-school, first transformation period; Younger school age; pre-puberty and puberty periods; adolescence period; adulthood; aging Clinical Psychology: 3) Introduction to the subject - definition of clinical psychology among psychological sciences, content of clinical psychology and its cooperation with other medical disciplines; personality - its structure and formation; personality characteristics; issues of personality normality; personality changes caused by the disease 4) Illness as a difficult life situation - definition of illness and health; picture of illness and changes of psyche under the influence of illness, other influences of illness - emotional, motivational, gnostic and possibilities of illness; autoplastic picture of disease and its conditionality; the concept of psychosomatic medicine - psychosomatic problems and somatopsychic problems; sick person in the medical environment - personality, behavioral manifestations, adaptation to the environment, adaptation to the disease - its acceptance or rejection other influences; iatropatogenia, sorrorigenie, placebo efect; defensive mechanisms - their image, influence and importance in disease and their place in the field of clinical medicine; how to approach defense mechanisms, how to work with them and how to manage them in the process of treatment and work with patient - client 5) Psychological issues of childhood, specific features typical for certain developmental periods of childhood and their response to disease or illness; psychological issues of adolescence and adulthood - certain specifics in relation to developmental stages in human life and their response to disease or illness; psychological problems of old age (gerontology) - certain specifics of this period of human life; diseases and this stage of human life, their treatment; problems of death and dying, basics of thanatology; psychological issues in individual medical fields (paediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, surgery, internal medicine, infectious medicine, neurology, psychiatry, oncology) 6) Psychological issues of health care professionals; personality of a health care professional; interpersonal relations in health care; conflicts, conflict resolution; psychohygiene in health care Exercises: 1) Basic mental processes 2) Mental development in individual periods 3) Personality person 4) Illness as a difficult life situation 5) Psychological issues of childhood, adolescence, maturity and old age 6) Psychological issues in individual medical fields and psychological issues of a health care professional

Learning outcomes
The subject is conceived as a theoretical-practical subject in the system of social sciences. It forms multidisciplinary character of non-medical health care disciplines. Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject acquaints students with the subject of psychology, developmental changes within individual psychic processes. It also acquaints students with clinical psychology, deepens knowledge important for professional management of difficult situations in the care of individual needs of the sick, disabled and dying, while maintaining the mental balance of the person providing care and assistance.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.
