Course content
Lectures: 1) Division of childhood, physiological development of a child, growth and prosperity on the weight of an infant, toddler, older children, growth percentiles, growth diagnosis; preventive examinations and vaccinations; abused child 2) Neonatology: physiological newborn, postpartum treatment and stay in maternity hospital, prevention of haemorhagicus, breastfeeding; birth injuries, the most common congenital malformations, asphyxia, hyperbilirubinaemia, neonatal infection; convulsions 3) Premature Newborn: Respiratory Distress Syndrome, infection, hyperbilirubinaemia, respiratory disorders, circulatory instability, nutrition, anemia 4) Infants: nutrition, failure to thrive, cow's milk protein allergy, cystic fibrosis, rachitis, infant diarrhea, GER, inflammatory bowel disease, abdominal pain, celiac disease 5) Endocrinology: growth disorders, endocrinological diseases of childhood, growth hormone deficiency, hypocorticalis and hypercorticalis, thyroid disease, hypoparathyroidism and hyperparathyroidism, diabetes insipidus, pheochromocytoma, diabetes mellitus 6) Infectious diseases of childhood Exercises: 1) Primary (secondary, tertiary) health care, practical medicine for children and adolescents and a nurse in his office (professional qualifications, education), taking a newborn into care, demonstration and work with the child's health and vaccination card; care for children up to 3 years of age in collective care establishments 2) The development of a healthy child (the most significant developmental aspects of childhood), demonstration and work with percentile graphs, Vlach scheme, development of children's drawing, vaccination calendar, peculiarities of communication with children; Charter of children's rights 3) Nursing process in physiological newborn after birth, Apgar score, signs of maturity, evaluation (physiological functions, skin color, reflexes, urination, pitch, voice, state of consciousness, muscle tone) 4) Nursing process of premature newborn; nursing process in a child with congenital developmental defect; nursing process in a child with low birth weight; nursing interventions in intensive care neonatology; hemotherapy in neonatology 5) Nursing process in children with non-specific intestinal inflammation, abdominal pain of celiac disease; individual diets, baby's diet, sweat test 6) Nursing process in children with diabetes mellitus (insulin, diet, exercise), demonstration of aids, first aid in the complications of this disease; nursing process in children with infectious diseases; regime measures, collection of biological material

Learning outcomes
The subject Nursing Care in Paediatrics 1-2 is conceived as theoretical and practical. It is part of a complex of subjects from clinical nursing. The aim of the course is to emphasize the peculiarities of the disease and nursing care in individual developmental periods of childhood. It acquaints students with the development of a healthy and ill child, with care for the child's health, disease prevention and childhood diseases in the whole spectrum of clinical disciplines. Emphasis is placed on the differences in the individual needs of children and how they are met, raising children, preventing, diagnosing and treating diseases, including the diversity of multidisciplinary care in outpatient, day and in-patient care, including care for children under 3 years of age in collective care facilities.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Classified credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - written test.
