Course content
Lectures: 1) Nursing process, information acquisition, assessment of patient needs 2) Nursing diagnosis, formulating nursing diagnoses 3) Goal setting, nursing care planning 4) Implementation of planned nursing care, documentation 5) Evaluation of nursing care by the nurse Exercises: 1) Practical application of the nursing process 2) Nursing assessment of patient needs, formulating questions to obtain information 3) Making nursing diagnoses - solving model situations 4) Working with NANDA - diagnostic systems, deriving and processing nursing diagnoses 5) Goals and expected outcomes of nursing care, implementation of nursing care plans 6) Model tasks: nursing assessment of patient needs according to the M. Gordon model 7) Model tasks: nursing diagnosis 8) Model tasks: planning nursing care 9) Model tasks: implementation of nursing care, evaluation of nursing care 10) Evaluating the results of nursing plans, working with documentation

Learning outcomes
The course is conceived as a theoretical-practical unit. The course Nursing Process and Needs 1-2 enables students to understand the main task of professional nursing practice. It introduces classifications of human needs by various disciplines and authors and focuses on reactions and manifestations of unmet needs in healthy, ill, disabled and dying people. It focuses on practicing individual phases of the nursing process. It enables students to acquire systematic knowledge and skills in the methodology of the nursing process.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - elaboration of (student) nursing documentation according to the model task. Exam: - oral exam.
