Course content
Lectures: 1) Characteristics of work in basic departments, basic medical documentation, basic legislation (non-medical professions, cooperation, competence); protection of staff and patients from infection, healthcare-associated infections, hygiene-epidemiological regime, decontamination procedures, hand care, disinfection, sterilization 2) Hygiene of patients; manipulation with patients, help with undressing and dressing, manipulation with seriously ill and wounded, handling a child patient; positioning patients 3) Basic physiological functions and their monitoring 4) Specifics of nutrition and emptying of patients in connection with radiological procedures 5) Drugs and their administration, oral administration of drugs; injection of drugs, oxygenotrapia, application of drugs through the airways 6) Infusion therapy, patient assistance and support; care of peripheral and central venous entry 7) Specifics of treatment of drains (including thoracic drainage), wound care and preparation for small surgical procedures Exercises: 1) Characteristics of work in basic departments, basic medical documentation, basic legislation (non-medical professions, cooperation, competencies) 2) Protection of staff and patients from infection, healthcare-associated infections, hygiene-epidemiological regime, decontamination procedures, hand care, disinfection, sterilization 3) Hygiene of patients 4) Patient handling, undressing and dressing assistance, handling of seriously ill and wounded, handling with a child patient 5) Positioning of patients 6) Basic physiological functions and their monitoring 7) Specifics of nutrition of patients in connection with radiological procedures 8) Specifics of emptying patients in connection with radiological procedures 9) Drugs and their administration, oral administration of drugs, oxygenotrapia, application of drugs through the airways 10) Injection of drugs: subcutaneous, intramuscular administration 11) Intravenous drug administration 12) Care of peripheral and central venous access 13) Preparation, assistance and security of the patient during infusion therapy 14) Specifics of treatment of drains (including thoracic drainage), wound care and preparation for small surgical procedures

Learning outcomes
The subject forms the basis of professional knowledge and skills. Students will acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes in the implementation of nursing interventions, assurance of safe and quality performance of professional interventions in patients. The safely performed procedure respects the individual needs of patients, especially their need for respect, security and safety. Students will acquire knowledge and skills in basic nursing procedures at individual interventions and they can also apply them practically in model situations. The course is based on valid competencies of non-medical professions and focuses on adoption individual nursing knowledge and skills needed for the profession of radiological assistant.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Test, Practical exam

Classified credit: - self-study, - 80% attendance in lectures, - 80% attendance in exercises, - continuous written tests on Moodle, - oral and practical examination.
