Lectures: 1) Introduction to basic terminology related to EBN and EBP; effectiveness of EBN and EBP in the Czech nursing environment 2) Formulation of clinical question and determination of research problem within EBN and EBP 3) Strategy of searching for evidence (evidence), sorting of acquired source materials, electronic databases, manual search of search 4) Evaluation of quality of found evidence critical analysis of obtained results 5) Implementing Evidence into Clinical Practice Limits; clinical guidelines Exercises: 1) Basic terminology of EBN, EBP 2) The role of nurses in the use of EBN and EBP in nursing care 3) Critical evaluation of the study; the use of studies and research work in clinical practice 4) Clinical best practices 5) Project structure of evidence-based practice

Learning outcomes |
The course is designed as a theoretical-practical unit. It deals with the methodology of research and application of evidence-based practice in nursing. It leads students to critical scientific thinking: understanding the need and importance of the scientific approach in nursing practice. It acquaints them with basic steps of the research process, selection of appropriate methods, orientation and processing of results. It emphasizes that evidence-based nursing practice is a process in which best practice is combined with nursing expertise and patient preferences to determine optimal care.
