Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction into the field ( history and present, interdisciplinary position, problems of health and its definition, preventive medicine as a part of the health care system, areas of preventive medicine ) 2) Preventive projects, strategies, health policies of WHO and EU (Program Health 21 - bases, aims, structure, problems in realization) 3) National programme of health, health care policy of the CR (bases, development, structure, regional level of realization, examples) 4) Health and its determiners I - living and working environment 5) Health and its determiners II - life style (nutrition, physical activity, smoking, alcohol, drugs, gambling, stress) 6) Health and its determiners III - socially economical factors 7) Indicators of the health condition, health statistics (monitoring of the health condition as an indicator of the effectiveness of the health care policy, the types of indicators, studies and investigation of the health condition, analysis and communication of health data. 8) Intervention programmes (planning, strategies, tools, interresort cooperation and evaluation of the projects, examples of good practice - Healthy Town, Healthy Hospital, Healthy Company, Healthy School) 9) Prevention of the most frequent non-infectious diseases I (Diabetes of the second type, Ischemic Heart Disease, hypertension, osteoporosis) 10) Prevention of the most frequent non-infectious diseases II (tumours, injuries) 11) Prevention of infectious diseases

Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming)

Learning outcomes
Preventive medicine offers knowledge and abilities from the area of support and sustaining of health, healthy life style; it shows how to provide information effectively in case of found out perils and direct threat to health of individuals, families and communities. It uses knowledge from medical, social, pedagogical and psychological fields. It an integral part of health care. It enables application of gained knowledge in further studies.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.
