Course content
|
Lectures: 1) Introduction to the field (history and present, interdisciplinary position, health issues and its definition, preventive medicine as part of the health system, preventive medicine) 2) World Health Organization, European Union, preventive projects, strategies, health policies of the WHO and the EU (Health Program 21 - starting points, objectives, structure, implementation problems) 3) Current primary and secondary prevention programs; national health program, health policy of the Czech Republic (basics, development, structure, problems, regional level of implementation, examples) 4) Health and its determinants I - living and working environment 5) Health and its determinants II - lifestyle (nutrition, physical activity, smoking, alcohol, drugs, gambling, stress); socio-economic factors 6) Health indicators, health statistics (health monitoring as a starting point and indicator of health policy effectiveness, types of indicators, health study and survey, analysis and communication of health data) 7) Intervention programs (planning, strategy, tools, interdepartmental cooperation and project evaluation, examples of good practice - Healthy City, Healthy Hospital, Healthy Enterprise, Healthy School) 8) Prevention of the most common non-infectious diseases I (type II diabetes mellitus, CHD, hypertension) 9) Prevention of the most common non-infectious diseases II (tumors, osteoporosis, injuries) 10) Prevention of infectious diseases

Learning outcomes
|
Preventive medicine provides knowledge and skills in the field of health promotion and maintenance, a healthy lifestyle, acquaints with the effective provision of information at identified risks and directly endangering the health of individuals, families and communities. It uses knowledge from scientific disciplines - medical, social, pedagogical, psychological. It is an integral part of health care. It enables the application of acquired knowledge in further study.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
