Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction to sociology, its origin, subject, function, structure and relationship to other sciences; basic approach to sociological knowledge (sociological paradigms); prominent representatives of science (Comte, Weber, Parsons, Petrusek and others) 2) Relationship between an individual and society - socialization process; value orientations and their transformations in modern society 3) Standards, conformity and social control; social roles and institutions, statuses 4) Social interaction and communication; gender aspects of society; contemporary family; problems of social groups, social stratification and mobility 5) The subject of social psychology, socialization; family as the primary group, types and family development 6) Discussion, demonstration, problem solving focused on nursing; problems of large and small social groups, their classification and differentiation) 7) The influence of social groups on perception changes; getting to know people; forming of impressions; social attitudes, their formation and change of attitude 8) Social structure aspects; social status and role system; typology of status and roles, stereotypes in perception of others, stereotypes focused on groups - effects of social perception and perception errors. 9) Conflict in society, conflict typology, conflict resolution - the role of facilitator and mediator. 10) Communication processes; stress situations; methods of sociology

Learning outcomes
The course acquaints students with basic sociological approaches, concepts and theories. Students will learn the terminology, will be introduced to the issue of the basic relationship of the individual and society and will be explained the main topics that they play a role in the social space. In the next part of the course, students will learn about social psychology as a part of the scientific field of psychology, where it focuses on the social field within its theoretical and practical content. Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to deepen students' knowledge of human behavior and behavior and clarifies the process of social interaction, which are important for professional management of difficult situations in the care of individual needs of the sick, handicapped and dying.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - passing the credit test.
