Course content
Lectures: 1) Monitors of basic vital functions 2) Defibrillators, pacemakers, counter-pulsators; elektrokautery 3) Equipment for extracorporeal circulation and mechanical cardiac support 4) ECG devices including outpatient recorders, echocardiography devices 5) Devices for functional diagnostics in cardiology, recording devices for catheterization halls (hemodynamic laboratories, recording devices for electrophysiology) 6) Modern mapping systems for electrophysiology; anesthetic devices 7) Possibility of archiving image and ECG documentation in digital format (PACS systems) Exercises: 1) Monitors of basic vital functions 2) Defibrillators, pacemakers, counter-pulsators; elektrokautery 3) Equipment for extracorporeal circulation and mechanical cardiac support 4) ECG devices, echocardiographic devices 5) Devices for functional diagnostics in cardiology, recording devices for catheterization halls 6) Modern mapping systems for electrophysiology; anesthetic devices 7) Possibility of archiving image and ECG documentation in digital format (PACS systems)

Learning outcomes
The course acquaints students with techniques in individual medical fields. Students will be introduced to the introduction cardiostimulation with an overview of pacing regimens and the subject of implantable cardioverter-defibrillators and ambulatory monitoring of these devices. In addition, the subject will also include an overview of devices used for blood purification (hemodialysis, hemofiltration, etc.). Part of the course will be an overview of the safety rules of medical technology and the issue of electromagnetic interference.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis, Practical demonstration of acquired skills

Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - fulfillment of assigned tasks, - drawing up protocols. Exam: - oral exam.
