Course content
Lectures: 1) Basic terminology and familiarization with cartography and topography as a scientific discipline 2) Geographic Security Products, Global Positioning System (GPS) 3) Creating map documents on PC 4) Topographic products - map sheet positives, map scales, terrain imagery, map orientation, topographic marks, NATO standard military situation marks 5) Measurement on maps, orientation in the field, azimuth Exercises: 1) Basic work with map, map markers 2) NATO standard military situation marks 3) NATO standard military situation marks 4) Orientation on the map with compass 1 5) Orientation in terrain with compass 2 6) Orientation in terrain with compass 3 7) Practical training of patient search and transport using GPS 1 8) Practical training of patient search and transport using GPS 2 9) Practical training of patient search and transport using GPS 3 10) Practical training of patient search and transport using GPS 4

Learning outcomes
The course acquaints students with the fundamentals of thematic and digital cartography and with state maps of the Czech Republic. They will gain a basic overview of the development of Czech and world cartography and digital cartographic works that are part of national geoinformation systems. They will be acquainted with maps of various scales, topographic markers and will gain practical knowledge in searching and transporting patients in unknown terrain using maps and GPS.
The students will acknowledge themselves with the informations acording to the goal and the matter of the course.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Test

Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - credit test, - practical skills.
