Course content
Lectures: 1) Definition of public health, public health as a multidisciplinary field. 2) Determinants of health, epidemiological studies. 3) National Health Information System, population health status and its assessment. 4) Health policy, purpose, background, instruments and objectives. World and European health policy strategy and its development. 5) Diseases associated with the provision of health care. 6) Health policy of the Czech Republic. Health profile of the Czech Republic. 7) Air Hygiene. Dust and aerosols, particulate matter. Air physical factors, climatic factors. 8) Hygiene of water, soil and waste. 9) Environmental stress factors: physical factors - noise, vibration, non-ionising radiation, lighting issues. 10) Environmental stress factors: physical factors - UV radiation, lasers, ionizing radiation. 11) Environmental stress factors: Chemical factors, particulate matter, biological factors, psychological stress. 12) Working environment, its effect on health, occupational diseases, occupational health services and occupational hygiene. 13) War medicine, disaster medicine. 14) Credit test.

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to explain and introduce especially special areas of public health that have a significant impact on the state of health of the population and which require specific knowledge and skills of a health care professional as a coordinating agent of multisectoral issues.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.
