Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction, classification of statistics 2) Measures of position and variability of medical data 3) Graphical ways of data presentation, population and selection 4) Experimental and theoretical distributions, Gaussian distributions 5) Methods of data selection; sampling 6) Hypothesis testing; parametric and non-parametric statistics 7) Tests associated with one selection 8) Two-choice tests 9) Testing three or more selections 10) Chi-square and Fisher's exact test 11) Variable dependency testing, special types of regression Exercises: 1) Distribution of statistics 2) Measures of position and variability of medical data 3) Graphical ways of data presentation, population and selection 4) Experimental and theoretical distributions, Gaussian distributions 5) Methods of data selection; sampling 6) Hypothesis testing; parametric and non-parametric statistics 7) Tests associated with one selection 8) Two-choice tests 9) Testing three or more selections 10) Chi-square and Fisher's exact test 11) Variable dependency testing, special types of regression

Learning outcomes
The course explains the basics of biostatistics including the basics of probability theory and the use of statistical functions MS Excel for statistical processing of research and research results.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined examination, Oral exam, Didactic test

Credit: - activity in exercises, - 80% attendance at exercises, - at least 50% of the multiple selection test point. Exam: - written exam (solving three examples from biostatistics).
