Course content
Lectures: Surgery: 1) Introduction to surgery: asepsis, antisepsis, disinfection, sterilization, healthcare-associated infections, anesthesia (types of anesthesia, local and general anesthesia), preoperative and postoperative care, postoperative complications 2) Principles of surgical surgery, inflammation, treatment of inflammation in surgery; tumors and their treatment in surgery; shock (treatment, prevention, first aid) 3) Burns, polytrauma, mamma disease, thyroid and laryngeal disease 4) Surgical problems of the gastrointestinal tract (diseases of the esophagus and stomach, small and large intestine, liver and bile ducts, pancreas), sudden abdominal events 5) Surgical problems of vascular diseases: veins (varices, phlebotrombosis, thrombophlebitis), arteries (ICHDK, aneurysm, reconstructive procedures on arteries), abdominal wall diseases 6) Surgical problems of craniocerebral injuries, diseases of the neck, spine and spinal cord, including tumors 7) Surgical problems of thoracic, lung and mediastinum diseases; urology (urolithiasis, prostate disease, other diseases in urology) Internal Medicine: 8) Introduction to internal medicine, division into sub-disciplines 9) Respiratory system diseases 10) Cardiovascular diseases and haematological diseases 11) Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract 12) Diseases of the excretory system including dialysis 13) Endocrine, rheumatological diseases 14) Disorders of acid-base and ionic balance

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject acquaints students with selected chapters from individual clinical fields of medicine, namely surgery and internal medicine. The course focuses on obtaining basic information on diseases in selected fields to the extent necessary for future non-medical healthcare workers.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.
