Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction to education, pedagogical phenomena and processes in nursing practice 2) Education: basic terminology, types of education, education in nursing; nurse's role in education, nurse's competence in education, legal norms 3) Educational process: Data collection (or medical history) in education; determination of educational diagnosis 4) Planning, educational goals, educational plan, educational contract 5) Realization of educational process, phase of realization of educational process; evaluation, educational records in practice Exercises: 1) Personal experience with education in practice - in the form of discussion; learning, motivation; principles of education implementation, demonstration of educational methods 2) Understanding educational materials: Master's formula, tools for understanding materials 3) Implementation: individual vs. group education, educational environment and resources 4) Specifics of education: children, geriatric patients, patients with disabilities, in disease 5) Elaboration of educational process with selected diagnosis and use of educational record

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a theoretical-practical unit. It introduces students to the issue of education and training, in which they will participate in the specific conditions of their practice (in the education of patients and their relatives, in health education of residents, in the preparation of educational events, in the education of health care workers, etc.). The main aim of the course is to provide students with an understanding of pedagogical phenomena and processes in nursing practice and to be able to educate patients effectively and to be able to influence them with respect to their developmental and individual peculiarities.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Classified credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - written test, - development of a patient's educational plan with a specific diagnosis.
